Holiday Information for Guests Travelling from the UK
By Air
With daily flights departing from most local airports in the UK to either - Trieste, Venice Marco Polo, or Treviso, in Italy. Transfer to our accommodation in Slovenia is by car or private taxi. There is also an option for self drive with car hire from the airport, - the choice is yours. For all self-drive guests we supply routes from the airport, and with a drive time of just over two hours from Venice, and less from Trieste, this is a great option for those of you who like to be independent, and have more flexibility. Flights also operate from some airports in the UK and Eire to Ljubljana, from where we would be happy to arrange a private taxi transfer, or car-hire. You also have an option to travel by train to Most na Soči from Ljubljana.
By Train
There are daily trains from London St Pancras (Eurostar) via Paris to Venice (Trenitalia) with connections to Trieste or Gorizia.
By Car
Self drive from Britain via Calais through Belgium, Germany, Austria, to Slovenia. The route is fairly straight-forward travelling on some excellent motorways through some very interesting landscapes. Details of our self drive route are available, with distances, approximate timings, and suggestions for some recommended overnight stops en-route.
7 Night Trips Run Throughout the Season and Include
- Shared Airport Transfers (usually Sundays)
- Accommodation in a twin or single room with bathroom
- Breakfast - Evening meals with complimentary wine, or soft drinks
- Fishing guidance (6 days) inclusive of transport to the rivers

The Accommodation
Situated in the north west part of Slovenia and in the heart of some of the best areas for fishing, our accommodation boasts a blend of warm hospitality, creature comforts and excellent home-cooked cuisine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Set in a picturesque rural location The Retreat is surrounded by unspoilt countryside with a variety of wildlife and birds in our garden, meadows and woodland. The spacious guest rooms are individually designed and furnished with relaxation in mind and each have a private bathroom.
With an inspired Mediterranean menu, and a variety of favourite in-house dishes, our kitchen uses the best local and Italian produce from the specialist food producers in the region. With our neighbours free-range eggs and the local delicious wild flower honey, and our home-made jams and freshly picked vegetables in plentiful supply, we aim to spoil our guests with good country living. A complimentary bottle of local wine is served with dinner. Spirits, beers liquers and a further selection of wines are available from the restaurant bar. Picnic lunches are available to order.
Our comfortable lounge has tea and coffee making facilities and a quiet corner for reading and relaxing. There is also satelite T.V, an internet connection, writing and fly-tying desks.
There are wonderful walks; literally right from the doorstep, with a further selection in the area, and beyond, with or without a guide. Bird watching, butterfly, wild flower, and orchid observing, and many other sporting and outdoor country-side pusuits are also available.
