Dear all at the lodge!

Thank you for making me feel so comfortable being a solo traveler and making the effort to ensure that I did not feel alone at any time. The whole week was organised very well, including transport to and from the lodge. The lodge was covid secure, requiring tests and hand sanitiser throughout. The lodge was so comfortable and the views amazing!

The food was outstanding and so was the service so big thanks to both Rosie and Katrina. Likewise, thanks to both Francis and yourself for keeping my company in the garden whilst having a beer and over dinners. The trip has solidified me falling back in love with fly fishing again and have taken out a membership at Syon park and have been going regularly – getting my older brother back into it. It doesn’t compare to the beautiful scenery or the hard fights the Slovenian fish put on but its scratches the itch.

Definitely a trip i find myself day dreaming about when I need an escape from day-to-day life.

On the Idrijca I finally got my first proper Idrijca marble trout in the very last pool of the day. What a trip!!!! What a week!!! About 70 fish caught, many more hooked and not landed and many more missed. Slovenia you did not disappoint. Thank you to my guides Kevin, Franny and Miha. Most importantly thank you to the fish!!!

Dear Rosalie and Kevin, 

We are finally settled back home after a really hectic month and are getting around to writing our mails. This is to thank you both for the wonderful time we spent with you in Slovenia.

Kevin- the fishing was amazing. As a novice, it was great to tap into your incredible knowledge and experience. I’m sold on fly fishing; expect to see us in Slovenia again! I have been practising (somewhat) and can now connect theory to the experiences on the rivers there.

Apart from the fishing, we remember in particular your warm hospitality and Rosalie’s fabulous food. Please do thank Francis and Katrina- it was a real pleasure being with them and getting to hear some of their beautiful music- so much talent in one family!

Our daughter, you will be pleased to know, finally managed to find a good place and has since settled quite well, much to our relief. Thanks for your concern and offer of help in this regard, it was reassuring to us.

I greatly appreciated your excellent guidance, without which my score would have been even less significant in comparison with Paul’s. The food was wonderful, and I should probably now go on a diet. While catching fish is more fun than not catching fish, for me the opportunity to see new things and meet new people is an essential part of a fishing trip. In that respect Slovenia excelled. The rivers, the wildlife and the plant life were superb. Our final day, with the red-footed falcons hawking for flies over the Unec, will remain long in the memory.

The fishing was great, even though I know the conditions weren’t perfect in the beginning. The scenery and rivers were spectacular.
Kevin and Miha’s guiding was spot on (I learnt a heck of a lot) and your hospitality was excellent, not to mention the fantastic meals. I do hope to return to Slovenia as I feel I’ve not even touched the surface.

You and Kevin are amazing hosts – the accommodations were top notch, food was the best I had while in Europe and Kevin’s knowledge of the rivers was amazing – a perfect guide who knew what his clients needed and supplied it to them. Staying with you and Kevin felt like staying with family. Thanks again for a splendid week, memories to keep me going through the closed season! I have a feeling that Slovenia is a bit like an incurable disease – I will not be able to shake it off.
