The Tolminka

The Slovenians say there used to be more fish than water in this almost forgotten short and steep river. A lower Soca tributary, its very cold and can harbour some wonderful marble trout and grayling. Sadly the river suffered from a landslide upstream in 2005, so it doesn’t clear as quickly after rain but when conditions are right it’s not unusual to meet a big marble. Some of my guests have had lines broken by big fish here.
